Genuine Art Ochres...Red, Yellow & White

I have collected this Ochre from appropriate places, with proper respect and protocols over many years of travel.

These ochres are just beautiful to look at and fantastic use.
I use them in all my art works, some of which have been collected in the National Gallery of Australia, Qld Art Gallery etc...Incredibly ancient natural pigments... so soft to touch but such strong powerful colours..

Very attractive pack makes a beautiful and unique gift... ...A classic Indigenous gift

The ochres have been crushed up enough to fit into the containers without turning them all into a fine powder..
Instructions included.

*** Why no black ochre? because charcoal is used mainly and there is no need to buy it.
Just crush it up finely and mix with water into a smooth paste, just like the ochres.

Using a feather to paint lines

Hi Rick

I have just ordered an ochre pack from you. I was wondering what you normally use for a binder? Could you let me know?

Regards S.....

Hi Sue,
Thanks for buying the ochre. For binder I use pva glue (ordinary wood glue, it's white and dries clear.) Aquadhere...Bondcrete? Mix it about 5 to one to the consistency of milk in a small bottle.
Add it to the ochre and stir til the ochre is like paint. Let it sit for a few minutes to soak in.
Top up with binder from time to time as it dries out...and if it gets a bit gluggy add some fresh water.
Any help you need just email
Or you can use the ochre straight up mixed with water to the consistency of paint, let it dry and spray it with the binder from a hand spray bottle(gently and don't get it mixed up with the black paint ha ha)
Or use hair spray, or a clear spray on sealer/adhesive from the hardware. Try it first because sometimes with a thin ochre layer, the sprays tend to make the white go clear. I use bondcrete and water mixed to the consistency of milk , about 5 to 1.
