have been able to make connections between what you have taught them and
what we have been reading in fiction and non fiction text. We also love
our mural and we hope to see a picture of it in the Western Times next

HANDS --On
WORKSHOPS AT SCHOOL
My
name is Rick Roser - I have presented hands on Indigenous workshops at schools
since 1987.
These hands on workshops have proven excellent for engaging kids and creating a positive first experience
....and with big shells of ochre, millions of emu feather hair decorations, scores of firemaking sticks, didgeridoos, boomerangs, spears, ochre painted necklaces, bark string arm bands...what's not to love?
(please see the activities below)
All the good things, all hands on - fully accredited & perfectly safe... providing a positive introduction to Aboriginal culture
using Indigenous
skills that have fascinated kids for millennia.
.....real Indigenous skills and culture shared and evaluated in a relaxed but controlled learning environment for all kids...
My art and artefacts has been collected by National and State Galleries, Museums and many private collections and the authentic Indigenous tools and materials provided at the hands on workshops are in themselves a fascinating display and offer great insight into our vast Aboriginal heritage.
At the workshops students learn in a memorable way by actively investigating....

The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander priority provides opportunities for all learners to deepen their knowledge of Australia by engaging with the world’s oldest continuous living cultures. This knowledge and understanding will enrich their ability to participate positively in the ongoing development of Australia.
Students will examine historical perspectives from an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander viewpoint. They will learn about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples prior to colonisation by the British, the ensuing contact and its impacts. They will examine key policies and political movements over the last two centuries.
Students will develop an awareness of the significant roles of Aboriginal and Torres Strait islander people in Australian society.
Students’ interest in and enjoyment of history is enhanced through a range of different approaches such as the use of artefacts, museums, historical sites, hands-on activities and archives "
Hi
Rick,
Thanks for that fantastic experience you shared with us. I really enjoyed
the experiences, and I loved being able to try things for myself. That
beautiful fish you did on my arm lasted for 3 days (although the fins
on my fingers came off when I washed the dishes that night). I showed
all my friends and they loved it as well. Thank-you so much for that privilege.I
hope to see you again next year for NADOC week.
Dear
Rick
. I didnt really know what to expect from the day but I have to
say I enjoyed the activities immensely. I absolutely admired your ability
to make fire within minutes. One thing is for sure, I am not going to
try getting on the Survivor!!! Thankyou for making yourself available
for the day and that you have imparted some of the Indigenous traditions
to us. It was a fantastic and fun day!! I hope we will you see next year,
too!
Hello
Rick,You are an absolute gem! Everyone was very happy from the State Librarian
to invited guests and as I was here again over the weekend, a lot of people
have been asking when you will be here again!
Dear
Rick,Thanks again for a fantastic presentation at convention. It was all
I hoped for.Best wishes,
